In the years I have spent as an HR Consultant, nothing piques me more than a sloppy or shoddy response to a Job ad.
As an Applicant, you don't necessarily need to respond to every job-ad that catches your fancy. And when you choose to, please ensure that you conduct yourself in the most professional and responsible manner possible.
It makes me shudder when I see applicants who forward me the same message that they had forwarded to 8 previous recruiters without necessarily bothering to edit, or even remove the addresses to which they had previously sent the same CV.
One particularly bad case is one in which the Applicant forwarded me a message that must have been sent to her by her BF who probably helped her draft her CV. The message read:
I have worked on the CV... When are you going to come and help me cook the soup you promised? I expected you last week but you didn't show up... blah blah blah.
I was stunned!
Another lady wrote:
Hang on tight to this...
That was so annoying! Especially when I discovered that there was nothing special about her CV.
But don't judge these characters without asking yourself if you are not guilty of the same thing.
For instance: What do you write in the body of your mail when you forward your CV?
Think about it... It sometimes determines whether you get called or not.
Now, that's what I call The Applicant's Still-birth.
I'll have some new vacancies up here later today. Please do check back.
Good luck!
